Why It Works

Studio Float IsoRafts are an inexpensive and novel decoupling alternative to traditional and costly sound proofing/sound isolating products and techniques. IsoRafts are used to isolate floors, walls and ceilings, creating a true “shell within-a-shell”, preventing sound transfer from one working space to an adjacent space. This benefits not only the working spaces of a sound production facility, but it also isolates these spaces from the noisy outside world. IsoRafts deliver cost savings while being far easier to work with and requiring less loss of room volume as compared to most existing sound isolation products.

IsoRafts simply attach to the side of studs and joists, followed by wood furring (or metal hat channel) and then drywall. Noise trying to get through the wall or floor is directed into the silicone core where the vibration friction converts the sound energy into a small measure of heat, killing the noise.

IsoRafts can be used in a retrofit situation as well. Now you can add a layer (or more) to your existing shell and truly isolate your existing room with a minimum of lost space. IsoRafts are the new and better solution.

Patented Vi-Bridge™ Technology

Noise is vibrational energy that travels in waves.

Those waves collide with the surface of either the wall or floor/ceiling.

The sound waves travel very efficiently through rigid materials (metal and wood.) So, when noise collides it makes a line connection from the wall, through the stud/joist, into the opposite wall.

IsoRaft kills the transfer by decoupling the wall or floor/ceiling assembly and provides a patented pathway for sound waves to travel and die.

IsoRafts noise reduction & simplicity goes beyond its design to its application in building structures. Many soundproofing solutions require the installation of floating floors and a resilient pad over Gypcrete to achieve file rating and sound isolation. By contrast, IsoRaft achieves effective fire and sound ratings with a simple installation of plywood subfloor with no restriction on the finish floor-simplifying the construction process and providing soundproofing options and flexibility.

Installation of Studio Float IsoRafts connectors is also simple: the noise reducing devices attach to the sides of assembly members (studs or joists) in ceilings, floors, walls with screws or nails-making installation easy.
